2005年9月至2006年10月澳大利亚国立大学访问学者; 2008年7月至8月法国INRIA研究中心邀请教授;国际多体系统动力学联合会常务理事,国际机械系统动力学学会理事,亚洲多体系统动力学联合会常务理事,中国振动工程学会理事,北京力学会常务理事,中国力学学会动力学与控制学科主任委员、多体系统动力学专业组组长;《Multibody System Dynamics》副主编;《Int. J. Mechanical System Dynamics》副主编,《动力学与控制》副主编;《Int. J. Mechanical Science》编委。

主要学术贡献:

长期从事多体系统动力学与控制方面的研究,在低速碰撞动力学理论、摩擦动力学、非完整系统动力学、颗粒流变学及航天工程应用领域取得了诸多重要成果。所提出的的间隙模型被称为”Liu-Model”,所提出的解决多点碰撞动力学方法被称为”LZB”方法。系统解决了经典刚体动力学中的”Painleve Paradox”问题。提出了滚动摩阻的粘性机制。从实验和理论方面解决了刚体动力学中的Painleve疑难问题;提出了考虑摩擦作用的变结构动力学分析框架和相关算法; 提出了颗粒流阿基米德定律;建立了非完整约束系统动力学的几何力学分析框架;在长征五号故障归零、嫦娥五号月壤钻采取样等重大航天工程中做出了突出贡献。
